Uncutxtra Meets Zanna Van Dijk — A Leading Fitness Influencer and first UK Adidas Global Ambassador
Zanna is a personal trainer, an entrepreneur, ocean lover, and online content creator. She grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere in East Yorkshire. The 29 –year-old 6ft blogger is now an award-winning influencer, a bestselling author, and a model with her own ethical swimwear line with a massive following.
Zanna is passionate about life, earth, and how to make the world we live in a better place for us all by advocating for ridding the cleaning earth of plastic pollution and making ethical wear out of it. When asked about this cause that is so close to her heart, Zanna says:
“I am a keen Scuba diver and I have been diving since I was 12, I was becoming increasingly aware of ocean plastics, especially from fishing nets. I wanted to raise the subject on a larger scale but this was before BBC’s Blue Planet program and people weren’t that interested.”
She wrote a blog post about this problem faced by the ocean with a photo of the rubbish she collected on a 200m beach in Jamaica. Her photo went viral but she still felt there was little political will to do anything about it. Zanna came up with the idea of making clothing materials out of recycled plastics and started her Staywild swimwear line with her friend Natalie Glaze, a brand that’s proving a huge hit with some of the collection already sold out. Zanna had this to say about how she incorporated recycled plastics into her “beach clean” campaign:
“I wanted to make something of ocean plastics but I wanted it to be relevant to the subject so I came up with the idea of ethical swimwear.”
Adidas signed Zanna on as their first UK global brand ambassador and together they launched a pair of trainers made out of recycled ocean plastics. She offered a whole lot of tips and insights essentially in the field of influencing, health and wellness in the fifth edition of Uncutxtra Magazine.
